About Us

Starting in 2007, The Green Reel Environmental Film Festival was hosted by in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada at The City Playhouse Theatre.

For 2010, our venue will change. Details to follow. 


The Film Festival
Recently completing its third year, this community festival has proudly presented such legendary and topical environmental documentaries as ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, ‘Who Killed The Electric Car’, ‘Darwin’s Nightmare’, 'The Future of Food' and ‘Sicko’. We have also presented many Canadian documentaries such as 'Edge of Eden: Living With Grizzlies', 'Being Caribou', 'Forbidden Forest' and 'Toxic Trespass'.  This year we will present another forty films of various lengths on topics such as nature, health, sustainable living, alternative energy, preservation of natural rsources, waste reduction, climate change and the environment. Films are collected from all over the world and selected for programming by festival founder, Darcy Hoover.

Tickets are $5.00 per film

Day Passes are $12.00

Festival Passes are $20.00


The Market
Come and explore our  fabulous green market of vendors, services, products and food. The participating vendors and environmental groups on hand complement the wide range of topics covered in the films scheduled each year. From vermicomposting workshops to organic baby foods and pet treats, to fair trade products and the latest in environmentally freindly fashion - there's something for everyone.

The clown sisters Morro and Jasp are back and this time, they’re trying to solve the biggest problem around:  How to GO GREEN!  Whether it’s using less water, making less waste, or conserving energy, this show offers a fun and fascinating look at what it takes to change our habits and become more environmentally friendly.  Offering exciting chances for audience members to get involved, this show is perfect for family and friends of the Earth!
